My favorite mornings are the ones where I wake up at 4:30am – 5:30am and can’t sleep. Why can’t my inner alarm clock do this every morning? I would get so much more done! And it’s not the groggy I-just-came-back-to-life waking up that comes after your alarm goes off. I haven’t woken up feeling refreshed to an alarm clock since I was in my mid twenties!
So here I am. Writing my second blog of the week at 6 am. It’s 10 degrees outside and since I’m currently surrounded by windows, I feel like it’s about 40 degrees in the house. I’m wearing two pairs of pants, long socks, three shirts, and a blanket and I’m still cold! Hello Winter!
Part of my weekend to do list is to prepare my meal plan for our Thanksgiving meal. Since I couldn’t think of anything else to write about this week, I thought I would share it with you. *Ahem* Here goes:
- Pumpkin French Toast Casserole
- Hot Apple Cider
- Coffee (duh)
- Roasted Turkey (Alton Brown Style)
- Hashbrown Casserole
- Pistachio Salad
- Frog’s Eye Salad (If you don’t know what this is, you’re missing out. . .and no. . .there aren’t real frog’s eyes in it)
- Pickle Tray
- Cheese Tray
- Pumpkin Bread
- Banana Bread
- Honey Baked Ham
- Mashed Potatoes
- Green Bean Casserole
- Cranberry Sauce
Does this seem too extreme for two adults and a toddler? It probably is. But I’m a grazer. I like to have lots of options and lots of time to explore all of my options. I eat in small increments all day long – if at all possible. There’s something about having a table full of food during the holidays that makes the house seem warm and inviting.
This will, of course, be followed with putting up Christmas decorations, watching some of my favorite Christmas shows like A Garfield Christmas, Muppet Family Christmas, and Mr. Willowby’s Christmas Tree (What holiday season is complete without Robert Downy Jr.?? Seriously, I want to know.)
So that’s what I’ve got. Whatever your plans are, I hope that you enjoy them!
